dv1000 read dvd-r problems

So I made some dvd's with dvd shrink and all of a sudden I cant read them on my DV1000. My desktop reads them fine. The only thing that has happened lately was the windows update.

I'm so confused.
 
certain DVD media might work better with certain drives, life is just that way. All i can suggest is trying another brand of blank DVD's. That is, unless your DV1000 can't read ANY dvd at all, in which case there is a problem.
 
called HP support. the drive is broke. new drive on doorstep two days later. Still need to install.

So far loving HP. So much better than the horror of past problems with gateway.
