OK kind of an odd problem. I have a SIIG USB 2.0/Firewire IEEE 1394 PCI card. The USB 2.0 part of the card seems to work just fine. However, when I try to import video from my Sony Mini DV Cam through the firewire ports on the card, my system reboots after a few seconds of video feed....... really odd.
Anyhow I have tried removing all of my other cards (Sound, NIC) just in case it was a hardware conflict, and I have also tried the other PCI ports on my motherboard (system specs in my sig).
I had this same problem in my previous motherboard (ABIT KT7-RAID). The only thing in common is that they are both VIA chipset boards.
OK so you might think that my combo card is bad. Well I tested it on my wife's PC (ECS Motherboard with SIS chipset) and it works great...... man this sucks. I had a Adaptec Fireconnect card (firewire only) and it worked fine. This combo card is giving me a headache. Any suggestions? Thanks.
System Specs:
MSI KT3 Ultra ARU
Athlon XP 1700+
Visiontek GF4 TI4200
Sound Blaster Live Platnum 5.1
3Com 3XP server NIC
Antec 550 True Power 550W PSU
Thermalright AX7
