DV camcorder warm deal?

Is this hot? I don't know much about these things, and am thinking about getting one. These don't sound very good to me:

Digital Camcorder:
640 x 480 / 12fps
320 x 240 / 30fps

Anyone able to compare to other dv camcorders? Thanks!

I would say no...for a $100 or so more, you can get a real mini-DV cam, which will give you much better quality and more video features. Dual purpose ones like this tend to give you crappy video and crappy stills.

If you're just interested in video, $300 is probably a good deal on an entry level mini-DV cam. Stay away from Hi8's and other formats...miniDV has pretty much become the standard for consumer and even prosumer grade video now. $400 would get you a very nice entry-level consumer camera.

They aren't. The standard in digital camcorders is 720x480x30fps.

I thought mine was 640X480 @30fps. Isn't that the 4X3 standard (as opposed to the new 16X9 HD versions)?

thats a digital camera made to look like a camcorder to fool people

youll only be able to record tiny low quality video clips on MEMORY
if thats the case your better off with a few name brand digital cameras that allow you to record direct to divx

or of course a real camcorder
