I had several international flights within the last couple of weeks.
Wasn't easy, but this type of haul makes it worth it.
Added this stuff to my cabinet, I'm almost fully stocked.
Rejoice with me, my fellow whisky lovers.

Meh. I've never felt a need to visit the duty free store. I can get most all liquors at cheaper prices even after sales tax.

One of the very rare perks to California.

Liquor is expensive here so it's always worth it to pick up a couple of tax free bottles when you travel. I don't drink that much so it lasts awhile. Still got half a bottle of Havana Club I bought in Cuba over a year ago.

I have never seen Scotch Whisky at or below duty free prices. The sales they run are very hard to beat. Also bear in mind that duty free is selling 1 liter bottles, while in the US its generally 750 ML.

Sweet! Please let us know how the Macallan Select Oak tastes. I've always been curious about that one, but never taken the 'risk' out ofsuspicion of the lack of an age...

I didn't think about the size different. I regularly can get 12 year scotch in the low 30's before tax, 18's in the high 40's to low 50's. Costco has a pretty good scotch selection these days all in the 50's to low 60's range.

For Americans coming back to the US, I don't understand why anyone would buy alcohol at a duty free. Costco prices seem far superior...

We have plenty of Costcos here... I'm confused. In other news, op is a bastard :D

California has relatively low liquor tax compared to most states. Of course if you live in Wyoming or New Hampshire there is no liquor tax ...

Shit that's right. I'll have to remember this for the wedding I'm attending in NH in November.

I've had it before, it's pretty good. I like almost all Macallans though. There are more and more no-age bottles being sold by different distilleries now, and it's not necessarily a bad thing IMO. It's not all about age. Take the Laphroig Quarter Cask in the picture. It has no age listed. But it's aged for a shorter time in very small barrels, which increases the contact with the wood by like 40% or something like that. Has terrific and very robust favors. No-age labels can also be very good.

Our last cruise had duty free alcohol sales, but you had to wait until you trip was over to get it.
I was very surprised how cheap it was.
Top shelf stuff (Grey Goose, Belvadere, etc) was like half off liquor store prices.
