Considering buying some electronics (mobile phone to be exact) in the UK and have it shipped to the US.
Will customs level duty on it?

I've never had anything from the UK get duties or additional fees on it. However, all I've ever ordered has been DVDs, so electronics may be different.

Not sure if it still works, but if you have the place you ordered it from mark the package as a present, you won't be charged any customs fees.

Mmmh. the US gov't website is of course horrible and it is impossible to find out from there and google fails (yet again).
Obviously don't want to order it, if I end up paying $100s in custom duty/tax.

No, there isn't any duty. I order stuff from Sweden and the UK all the time, and don't get any extra charges. I assume you're going to be in America when you make the order, right? If you're buying in person VAT, and maybe some other crap will have to be delt with.

What type of stuff do you buy from Sweden and UK? I'm just curious if there are better prices on certain items rather than buying them here. (ie. phones)

No, nothing like that. It's mostly tobacco products. I get snus from Sweden, and snuff from the UK.
