Criminal can deduct gun

AMSTERDAM - Criminals don't always have to pay weapons or other things used to commit a crime themselves. This reports De Telegraaf (Dutch newspaper) on monday.

According to the Department of Justice costs which have a direct link to the criminal offence can be deducted. "Costs which a criminal would otherwise not have made", so a spokesman of the Department said in the newspaper.

Last week a 46 year old man from Roermond got 2000 Euros back for the purchase of the gun he used in a bankrobbery. The man had to pay back the 6,600 Euros which he had stolen. The costs made when purchasing the used weapon were deducted from this. The arrangement also goes for other criminal offenses. <People who grow large amounts of Marihuana> (can't think of a decent translation right now) can deduct the costs for hiring space and purchasing plants.

Wonder what the government will think of to explain this... The rightwing parties kept claiming they'd be a lot harder on criminals once they would be in charge, but ever since they did manage to keep the left parties out of the government they've been messing up like this (and a few times even far worse too btw).

Note: For those who thought Marihuana was legal in the Netherlands: It is when grown in small quantities for personal use, and licensed 'coffeeshops' can have a small amount for a limited number of clients in stock. Growing large quantities though is illegal.

WOW, that's amazing.

So in the US gangsters don't get arrested for their crimes, but instead get arrested for tax evasion. In the Netherlands, criminals get arrested for their crimes but also get tax breaks?

european countries are about as left wing as you can get.

right wingers would have let the bank owner shoot the criminal then given him a tax break for removing a felon from the streets.

Right-wing as in people from the reigning parties saying we should kick all non-western foreigners out of the country, that we should ban the Islam from the country, or that we should take away the Dutch nationality of all criminals of foreign origin and kick them out of the country.

They promised to be extremely tough on criminals before coming into power, but now they're too busy attacking the Islam to bother with criminals. Especially the multi-million and multi-billion dollar criminals who happened to have ties with several members of those parties.

Wasn't the film director Theo Van Gogh recently murdered by Islamic thugs because of a film he produced along with a Muslic woman about how Muslim women are treated? Isn't that same woman in hiding now?

Aren't the Netherlands also having a problem with Islamic youth being recruited to perform violent jihadist acts?

I don't pretend to know everything about the Netherlands but it sounds like there is a serious problem with radical Islam there.

I don't pretend to know everything about the Netherlands but it sounds like there is a serious problem with radical Islam there.

Yes, it was where Theo got murdered for a film, but the woman who got him to make it wasn't a Muslim anymore, she had decided that Islam was evil and therefor the film she made portraited a woman wearing only a see-though veil whom had Quranic texts written on her body. That pissed off even moderate Muslims as the Islam is even stricter to displaying nudity than Christianity. And imagine someone making a film in the US where Bible texts are written on the nude body of a girl, where her breasts and stuff are visible most of the film.

It was an extremist that murdered Theo, part of a group of a few dozen or maybe a few hundred extremists here. Considering there are over a million Muslims here on a population of just over 16 million the number of extremists isn't that high, but they were totally ignored for ages and suddenly started doing things, which freaked people out. Even more so when it turned out that the intelligence service thought they had someone in that group, but then found out the hard way that it was more the other way around.

That would just be par for the course in the US. We've had a feces covered portrait of the Virgin Mary, Jesus portrayed as gay, and recently a skit in a stage play called "Jesus Fvcks!" which shows a recently arisen Jesus having sex.


But, I do agree that your original post deserves a 'WTF'. That's up there with Britain telling its citizens that they'll be arrested and tried if they fight back against a home invader.
