Dusty system=hotter cpu?

I've been running with the panels off for 2 weeks and the cpu just seems to be getting hotter and hotter, i took them off to make it cooler...

can dust buildup do this?

And hell, while I'm at it, whats a good case that has very good cooling already installed with it? I don't want to add fans, I wouldn't even know where to begin, what is a very good case that already has 2-3-4 fans in it?

Looking for with plenty of bays, mid or full tower is fine.

I HIGHLY suggest the Antec SX830 or SX1030 cases! Just got my SX830 today and I am amazed at how well it is built! I got it for 80 bucks at Onvia.com with free shipping and it got here overnight! What a deal!!

Dusty fans impede airflow, and dusty heatsinks really impede airflow, so in that case, a dusty heatsink/fan would definately result in a warmer operating temp.

Both the sx830 and sx1030 come with two fans. You can check out the case here http://www.antec-inc.com/product/cases/perfhome.html. I just got the sx830 and it is much cooler than my last case with the panels off.

When I had the panels off, the temperatures were greatly affected by the room temp. But with the new case, I am running about 5-7C cooler witht the case closed. It is an awesome case.

I just picked up the antech sx830 from onvia, it will be here in a few days I imagine.

I'm going to run before and after temperature tests and I'll post the results here 🙂

I have the SX830 and it is awesome my case temp is the same as ambeint room temp. For the money I dont think you can beat this case it lowered my CPU temp by 4 degrees Celceius
