Feel free to start making fun of me for asking this question, but if I can get an answer it is worth the ribbing.
I pulled out my old Compaq armada 1530dm the other day and took it apart for fun so I could examine the motherboard. As a hobbyist, I started to think about ways to upgrade the motherboard, working within in the confines of the form factor for that PCB.; JUST FOR FUN.
Before I look at the chipset replacements and other voltage issues, I need to see if I can adapt the CPU on this board to be able to accommodate a faster CPU.
The board had a MMX 133 mhz TCP (tape carrier package) CPU. When I removed it, I see that the PCB has 320 leads on the outer frame (I don?t know if this can be for QFP?) and then 121 staggered holes on the white inner frame and 121 holes (11x11) on the gold inner frame. I have a picture that I can share . . .
Is there an adapter that could be placed on this PCB to accommodate a later model CPU in PGA or CPGA format?
