Dust

my computer components are extremely dusty and it seems that the computer runs with less heat once the side is removed. i know of the 'air in a can' that can be used to remove this so it will not heat up as much but i cannot find it on dabs or at pc world, is there another uk site that stocks this?

Why bother with a website? Your local hardware or electronics stores should carry canned air. Even sewing stores, actually. In fact, if they have people working there who know what they're doing, you might even be able to make a few spaceball jokes while you're at it.

ive been to pc world which is pretty much the main computer store and i couldnt find it there and considering they own almost all the other computer stores i havent been holding out much luck of finding it in one.

Yeah, even places like Staples, Worst Buy and InCompUSA carry canned air... I always thought the UK was screwed up but I didn't think it was THAT bad... :Q

there isnt a walmart, its asda here but im pretty sure they dont have it, ill check staples at the weekend if i get a chance.

lol

be careful when you buy the air though... I know over here in the states some stores card you to see if you are 18

The only dangerous way to get rid of air is to blow into the case. You can really do anything you can think of, fill a dry Super Soaker with air and blow it into the case. As long as no water gets into the case than you're fine using anything.

I saw compressed air at CompUSA the other day though.

WHSmith stock it. The can I bought only lasted about 3 minutes though - you may as well wipe out the dust with cotton sticks and a cloth - the can won't pick off much of the embedded dust.

The reason why so many of our shops don't stock compressed air is down to dandruff. 90% of dust in PCs is down to dandruff - in the US dandruffitus has reached epidemic proportions while in the UK it's almost eradicated, except for some poor souls such as Codename 47. Yes,
Using a balloon isn't a good idea - you still the moisture from your breath when you initially blew it up. Unles you mean filling one up with air from a petrol station.

Most vacuum cleaners allow you to attach the hose to the output of the motor to blow dust off furniture, etc. Take your computer outside of the house and blow it off with the vacuum ......
