I just opened my PC i built in late FEB of 2003.. and I noticed dust on the fans and stuff.. pretty good bit of it.. well mostly on the videocard fan. Is this a prob? I tried cleaning it up a little bit with my finger. ;) So?

The biggest problem with dust is that it clogs fans and prevents air from flowing. Large amounts of duct can raise temperatures significantly. You may want to pick up some fan filters from Directron or SVC. The aluminum ones tend to work better than the foam ones. You can even make your own. Just do a search in the forums here. As brigden said, compressed air is a good way to get rid of the dust.

God dust is a PITA... my room is very dusty... as much as I try to clean it and use air purifiers its still dusty... I usually have to take my fans off once every few months and use a small tough brush and clean them off... I cant get it off just from canned air or anything like that.
