Dust Resistant Fans

I've got a handful of computers at a landscaping office that are chewing through their fans - presumably due to the level of dust in the air.

Given that I cannot change the environment, and have already elevated the computers from the floor as much as possible, does it matter what type (model, make, bearing type, etc) I use?

Sadly, given the cases in place, filters are only useful in some of the situations.

Which fan manufacturer came out with a line of fans with the motor moved to the frame of the fan?

Out of curiosity, are you blowing off these fans with compressed air?

Go to Sanyo Denki's home page, find fans used in the food industry, these fans are sealed against steam cleaning. Now try finding them, then gasp at the price.

Abhi, a member of this board over in India, used this linked set-up to keep the shop comp clean in their polymer factory. It had been shutting down every two weeks due to over heating cause by dirt impaction.

Keep in mind more air flow is going to = more dust, so use lower CFM fans.

You also want to aim for as close to neutral air pressure as possible to minimize dust build up.

As for the bearings ball bearing is the way to go for durability and longevity, Delta and Sanyo Denki would be good choices.
