I use standard gauze pads such as you get at the pharmacy, and 70% isopropyl alchohol. Seems to work great.

ok. but would the alcohol/gauze pads/leans cleaning cloth / microfiber cloth mess up the screen glare coating (?) on the lcd?

Swiffer duster for the dust build up, soft cotton rag (or old t-shirt) moistened with a little bit of water for the fingerprints. You want just enough water to wet the screen a little and break up the oil from the fingerprints.

That's what I've always heard, that it is best to not use any solvents to clean the screen. I'm not sure about the newer LCDs and what kinds of coatings they have.

50% rubbing alcohol/50% warm water and a soft cloth. Been doing it for a while now and it doesn't hurt anything and cleans the screen with no problems.

I've always used 100% cotton, with only water on it. Works great for me, but I've never had any major grease, or grime on the screen.

my vision is exellent. I would suggest watered down alcohol to clean it. definitly something lint free and non abrasive. I use the little cloth that came with a rifle scope I bought last year. Made to not scratch stuff.

70% isopropyl won't dissolve anything that is used on the front of a monitor.

For dust only just use a micro filter cloth or something similar. I wouldnt use anything else unless you got finger prints and such.
