Hello:

I recently did a minor upgrade to my computer and noticed dust that was caked onto the thermaltake sk6 / panaflo setup... I'm wondering if this might cause a decrease in cooling performance.. It was nasty as hell :(

Thanks!

Yes, dust can affect cooling - air needs to pass over the heatsink in order for it to work. A layer of dust can act as an insulator, keeping some air away from the heatsink's surface. I use dust filters over my intake fans; they decrease airflow a bit, but the inside of the PC stays clean.
