Durons are now LOCKED

the folks here have found that new production durons are without the pins necessary to change the multipliers. 'Tis a sad day indeed, but the "pencil method" made it too easy to remark I guess....

So...wait...can we still break and close other golden bridges (not L1) to manipulate the multiplier? Kinda like people who overclocked not using a KT7 or A7V did...

Is that possible? Do the other golden bridges still determine the multiplier, or is is laser burned in like intel does? 😱

<crossing fingers...>

I don't see why manipulating the other bridges shouldn't work.

Rememberm, the missing pins have been disconnected (at the L1 bridges) for quite some time now, yet it has still been possible to manipulate the other bridges to change the multiplier.

Darn that plain stinks...I was planning on buying a Duron and Overclocking it. I thought AMD would do that.

lol these faces 🙂 🙁 are so weird..

ok so AMD's disabling of overclocking pins has finally been proven. what about T-Birds?

it doesn't matter TOO much, though, becuase soon 133mhz FSB's will be common place in EV-6 mobos, (with DDR SDRAM I might add), so you should be able to get your Duron 600@800 without any problems..

touche` 🙂 but then again, you've certainly heard of people's efforts to OC celerons to insane levels....spending more on cooling and such to get more performance than if they'd have just bought a P3 instead 🙂
