First off, you're saying a p3/c2 are comparable at the same speed. THEY ARE NOT!!

Secondly, THE duron @ 950 is easily as fast as a P3 @ 950(not to mention costing less). And at that speed, will beat the comparably priced intel chip rather easily.

I thought that I'm making myself look bad by reacting violently so decided to refrain from ever doing so again as I read my own post
it isn't very pleasant either and seem to make thing worst.

nobody is feeling bad about buying anything.

-If I'm going for a new setup, Thunderbird all the way. It's cheaper and faster than anything Intel has, or I go for a Duron because its so damn cheap, overclocks great, and cost at barely over 100.

-If I have a solid BX board and I'm on a tight budget, I get a Celeron II and overclock it to 100, or for a little more I go for the 600E.

You want to know the difference between the 4 different setups?
NOTHING!!! Because I sure as hell can't feel the difference between 50fps(ever since the 450A with a TNT2) and 999999fps. Websurfing isn't getting any faster without a T3 line, and I'm sure my figures are the limiting factor to how fast Microsoft Words types my document.

So to answer your concern, nobody is regretting anything. Each product has a solid niche in the computer junkie market.
 
Sorry chief, in that synthetic benchmark, which fits entirely in L1 cache, a 700 mhz Celeron would be equivalent to a 700 mhz PIII -- which AIN'T SO.

Use a real world benchmark (like a game) and you'll see the Celeron gets thrashed by a Duron, an Athlon classic, a thunderbird, and a PIII Coppermine.
 
Well, this guy went off on a Rant about how you really can't overclock, and that overclocking was useless, and how all of us overclocking 200mhz or more were lying about our overclocked speed, adn how our systems were tremendously unstable, yadda yadda yadda. Hyper99 is a fool.

Then yesterday, he goes on blasting VIA as a company as well as every product they make. He's just a buffooon.

This guy also went on how his friend got 62fps in Quake3 800 * 600 off his friends Celeron 500 setup with a S3 Virge 4 meg emachine.

Uh -oh Todays AMD release says duron/thunderbirds are Multiplier locked in Production releases. Asus boards not coming with multiplier override.

ummm... the Soyo, Abit, Asus, and QDI socket A mb's are all gonna offer multiplier adjustment through the mb... so duron's will be overclockable 🙂

Umm thats great, but will they work with the clock locked durons, which are unlike the sample cpu's given to the review forums.
 
they're supposed to work on the locked cpu's... like hte one that the insanehardware.com guy has(i believe his is a production "locked" chip).

I'm not trying to start any flame war, some of you may have took it the wrong way.
If I said VIA is crap, take it with a grain of salt cause I have bad experience with them.
If you like it good for you, but you don't need to flame me for it.
I don't see how I'm a bad person when we have rights to say whatever we dislike or not.
Just because everyone like certain thing doesn't mean you have to too
Is it wrong to be different?
Is is wrong to choose which CPU you like best or not?
