Duron won't overclock unless run for a while?

For some strange an odd reason I can't overclock my Duron over 650 unless it runs for a while, after that it runs overclocked just fine. Anyone know what's up? It's truly strange.

Hmm, pm of Intel says that the silicon doesn't get faster. Effects of burnin are usually due to a reaction with the thermal compound.

By the way, you're using a pretty high voltage to get 900Mhz. This's an example of where getting the 700Mhz version can payoff.

Cause i use 1.55 volts for 900Mhz.

Does that phenomenon still occur?

To rule out the obvious, you could always get that horribly tight heatsink off and repencil the links. Then get a cup of coffee and prepare to scrutinise the contact between your heatsink and CPU.

Yeah, silicone doesn't get faster, unless you throw it at a wall...

As for the voltage, I didn't want to spend the extra money to get a 700, my 600 is doin' fine.

And I re did the pencil and now it's working fine. I've no idea why it what doing that before, truly odd.

Oh, and I'm not ready to lap my HSF, yet. Still have to go to the hardware store and get some sand paper.
