Is there any performance advantage using a Thunderbird 800 over a Duron 800 in a system with a Matrox G450 (2D) video system?

What is the additional cache best for?

The T-Bird outperforms the Duron, clock for clock. Nonetheless, for the usual home apps, it's difficult to recommend a T-Bird over the Duron. It's my understanding that the Matrox G 450 is a lesser performer than the G 400.

I was told the codec of the G450 provides a sharper text than the G400. I'd rather, if forced to the choice, have sharper text than just about any other feature or characteristic. I was going to pursue the issue of performance only to the extent of if the TBird would be wasted money on a system devoted to web usage and programming.
However, with the difference in price D800 approx. $80 and the TBird 800 about $100+, it hardly matters.

Thunderbird rules!

Thanks, and thank you AMD!
