i have a bunch of durons and a7s333 mobos that support 333 ram and prolly even 333 fsb is perswaded what i want is to unlock the multiplier so that i can increas the fsb but leave the clock realatively safe i have tried to straight clock them to 133 to get a 1733 clock but they won't take it any suggestions cause the cashe is of no real improvement over cost if the clocking works

thanks again

durons are on ceramic PGAs as opposed to the AthlonXPs on organic PGAs. just take a sharpened No. 2 pencil and connect the L1 bridges. there should be four pairs--draw a line that connects the dots. go over it a few times to make a nice thick trace that is conductive. this will effective unlock the multiplier of the chip. ahhh, the bad old days, it takes me back when my wee little 600MHz Duron would hit 1GHz via 7.5 x 133. those were the days....

The 1.3ghz Morgan unlike lower speed morgans has the last L10 bridge connected which locks the multpliers below 13. So you have to either cut the L10 bridge that's closed or do a pin mod which I've read is the same pin mod used on the 2100+ but I can't verify that so cutting the L10 is the surest bet. Then you do the pencil trick on the L1's and I recommend a mechanical pencil or at the very least a good HB #2 because some pencil leads have too much clay in them to conduct well. Of course you can use conductive ink like in the rear window defogger kit for a permanant solution.

I heard somewhere that mechanical pencil lead has plastic filler sometimes. Not so good for conductivity. Plus the pencil trick works for a while, then stops working--it did for me anyway. Had to go and get the defogger repair kit from Napa. I unlocked my Duron700, my AXP1800, and I'll probably do my Dad's Athlon 1gzh. Pretty good deal if you have more than 1 to do!;)

thats waht i did
cept i found a trace pen

ive herad that if you do the pencil trick and put a piece of scotch tape over it, it wont "wear out" either as fast, or at all

It's ALMOST as tricky to do the pencil trick as it is to go with the defogger paint. When I redid my 700 (with paint), I couldn't use the 5.5 or lower multi's. It seems like they got burned out or something. Like Neil Young. Ceramic doesn't rust though.

So are you saying I should clean it off with acetone and try again? ...but I don't have any clear nail polish. how would it get on there? I think you might be thinking of filling the chasms in the AXP+ series chips. No?

I wouldn't worry about it.

I unlocked mine with a mechanical pencil over a year ago and haven't had any problems.

I think I understand what you mean now. You put the clear nail polish on top of the graphite conductor, right? The way I read it, it looked like you thought I slopped nail polish on there b4 I "unlocked" it. lol:D
