Does anyone know if I need to remove the 4 rubber pads from the CPU in order to use my copper shim?
My copper shim has holes for the rubber pads already.
Thanks.

If your copper shim has holes for it already you do not remove it.

The shim I received didn't fit over one of the pad completely right (the pad kept pushing it out of alignment, so I superglued (tiny spots) the shim to my processor so it doesn't short any of the connections on top.

My question, since it isn't for heat management, why are shims made outta metal? Rubber, plastic anything but metal.

Oh well.
