Duron Temperature

I have a Duron 750 and I wanna overclock it to 1ghz and I was wondering what should the temperature be. Also, do people use like a program to show them how hot (temperature) it is? Lastly, I was wondering if it is good(or stable) to overclock my duron 750 to 1ghz, or is it even possible?

Alrighty..

"I have a Duron 750 and I wanna overclock it to 1ghz and I was wondering what should the temperature be"

That varies on everychip, but if I had PROPER* cooling and a 750 @ 1ghz (i'm 700 @ 1000) I'd say as long as it doens't go over 55-60 (MAX)c under a FULL load.. like 5 programs running.., you're fine.

Also, do people use like a program to show them how hot (temperature) it is?

Well, if you have an ASUS A7V you can use ASUS PROBE to tell.. otherwise i can't really tell you, but even a mobo like the kt7 has a temp reading device.

The overclock should workout fine as long as you get PROPER COOLING* I can't say how imporant that is! 😉 Look around for an ALPHA 6035 Heatsink/fan combo, because these chips aren't very overclockable with the default fans they come with.. personally I wouldn't even try.

If you can't find an ALPHA 6035.. (they are hard to find right now).. then try either a SUPER ORB, or an Artic Circle.

For good cooling try..

Hope this helps..

alphas are available at www.3dfxcool.com

I highly recommed these guys, even though their site looks crappy. everything I have received from them has come within 2 days... (I think they are based in Washington)

make sure to tighten the clip on a 3dfxcool alpha(they ship the old style clip).

Also,

Duron temp reading is extremely flaky. DO not attempt to compare temp readings with other people on the bbs. Among other issues, Bios revision, thermistor placement are huge in the wide range of temps that people report for duron temps.

For example, you'll see people reporting 32C for a full load overclocked duron. Err, unless your ambient case temp is a cool 10-12C(under 50F), it isn't possible.

So, as long as the chip runs fine for you, i wouldn't worry too much about temp. The cores are rated to 90C.
