Duron temp

Seems no matter what I do, the temp stays about the same, 47-52C. Originally had the coolermaster hs/fan, then went to the FOP32-1. I removed the thermal pad, since it was coming off anyway and used thermal paste, just a small amount in the middle. I also swapped cases since the fan/hs is further away from the power supply. I guess it just wants to stay around 50c. Any ideas? Runs stable, no crashes, but just wondering if I can get it a few degrees lower. Thanks

ASUS A7V (1003 bios)
Duron 600@824 (103fsb x 8)
I/O voltage--3.5 (default)
cpu voltage--1.65
pci master caching enabled

I have duron 700 and it runs @ 35c with a full load
when I O/C to 1gig(1.85v) it runs @ 53-55 with a full load

btw I have a PAL6035 Heatsink:) it is great

you should try some "silver" thermal grease it helps

Try upping the voltage. I'm serious. Some people get cooler temps by running it at a higher voltage.

You might be able to get the temp lower by lowering the I/O voltage. However, this may cause some instability issued with your graphics card.

Also, how is the circulation inside your cases? If the cases don't have circulation, any HSF will ultimately fail to keep your CPU cool.

Looks like a couple things to try when I get home from work. I was reading at another site about the cooling in the asus probe software, that it can actually cause it to run hotter. Maybe I'll try that also. I'm not too sure about the airflow in the case, but I'm thinking of adding a case fan. The case sides have two sections of small holes on each side for ventilation. I'll see what happens.
Thanks,

ps: artic silver on the way.

Good luck with that. Circulation of cool air does help a lot though. I lose about 10F when I open the window in my room. Right now I have 31(87)/23(73) for CPU/Mobo.

If you don't have a case fan, I strongly advise getting one.

Well, I just got home and turned off the cooling in asus probe. Shortly after turning it off, the temp shot up to 86c, asus probe popped up, then it immediately dropped back to 49c. Its been running now for about 30 minutes and the temp is at 41c! The lowest I've ever seen it. Evidently the cooling software in asus probe causes the reverse effect. Hopefully it'll stay that way.

That's true, check the Asus A7v link in my signature for suggestion on how to cool your motherboard down.
