Hi all,

I have a duron 750 to 850 for some month now.
This morning, the computer just shuts itself down for no reason.
I can reboot but it won't POST. MSI Pro2A shows the LED is 0110
i.e. RED-GREEN-GREEN-RED
I have a Alpha cooler and always runs at 32 C fine.

What gives?

If it won't post then I don't think it's a problem with the bridges of the cpu. If that were the case I think it would at least show something and say that the speed was wrong.

Okay, I just did some major part swap.
I re-bridged the CPU and tried, same
I use another Duron 700, same problem

I also swapped RAM, Video Card, amoung other things.

I am now pretty sure there's something wrong with the motherboard.
Any ideas?

BTW, the LED is either 1001 or 0110 when the computer stops booting (i.e. dead)

yep
Resetting the CMOS yields the same problem..

This is so weird. All similar problem in the past had been solved by a CMOS reset but not this one

You getting any beep codes? If not pull all your parts (including floppy and IDE cables)and your memory and see if you get beep codes. If you don't get any beep codes then, your bios may have gotten trashed or your mobo has some faulty part.

But until you isolate everything except mobo and chip, no way to tell. Then throw this into the grinder. Could be one of the voltages failed on your PS. But if you don't get beep codes, and you have swapped processors, then it has to be power supply or mobo.

Thanks for the insight.

I got at most one beep. And the computer halts on Video BIOS screen.
So, like you said, it's either PS or MB.
But would a 2 month old Antec PS fail?

Don't think it's the video card.
Because I swapped in another GF2 MX
and the situation is still the same
