duron stability problem *fixed!*

Heres the problem I'm having. I've had my duron running all the way up to 1ghz at 1.85v. However, I noticed several games and 3dmark 2k started blanking out to desktop after running for an hour or more. So I say no prob, I'll clock down to 950 at 1.80v. STill the same damn problem! I don't think I'm hitting the core limits, because everything seems to run ok. Just blanks out after long periods of use. Any ideas?? I've already tried redoing the L1's, didn't seem to help. My temps aren't the problem, they stay ~40-48C, depending on what I'm doing on my computer. I've also got the det5.22 drivers, and the latest via drivers and sblive drivers. I'm really suspecting the ram, as its just generic stuff, and the A7V is know to be picky. Any suggestions would be apreciated.

PS is a 300w, so I don't think its the problem. I also forgot to mention that my video card is overclocked. That could also be the problem, although I have never had trouble with it at this speed before. But you never know 😉

ok, it ain't the oc'd video card, I clocked it down, and still games still crash out to desktop after playing for a while....any ideas? maybe I HAVE hit the stable core limit. I just find it strange that I can run just as stable at 1ghz, as I can at 950.

Have you tried downing the speed of the RAM? Try setting it to PC100 3-3-3 and seeing if its gets any better. Aside from that, I don't really see anything that would seem to cause the problem, although you could try changing the direction on some of your fans to lower the case temp.

already running at cas3, paulip. Could it just be my memory is not getting along with the a7v though??

Is your power supply on the AMD approved list? If that's ok I would run your Duron at stock frequency and try it, just to see if that's your problem.

Why don't you slow the memory down to absolute slowest. Then if you get stable in your games crank up the speed one notch at a time and test.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll try them. I dunno if my PS is on Amd's list, but its the one that came with my enlight 7237. I've been told that the power supplies that enlight includes are pretty good.

Ok guys, I clocked my duron down to 900 @ 1.7v . Just got done running 3dmark looping tests for 4 hours straight! No lockups, wooohoo! Guess I was hitting the core limits after all. Hmm...I'm a little dissapointed that it won't do 1ghz, I was SO close....but stability is more important. I'm still damn happy with 900 though!!! Thanks to all who gave suggestions
