My duron600/A7V combo has finally been clocked to more desirable speeds. My global win fop-38 arrived today, and I finally didn't have to worry about cooling. With the case off, the processor stays at 35 degress celcius. I run into problems when I put the case back on though,... system freezes once the chip gets to 41 degrees celcius. The voltage has been bumped to 1.65 volts, just for kicks, because it would post at the default voltage. With the case cover off, the system has been totally stable so far. I burned a cd earlier without any problems. I'm burning another while I type this message. Quake 3 is screaming right along on my voodoo 3 2000 pci :(.

The problem I ran into when I tried the 9.0 multiplier is that the windows 2000 boot loader hangs. Either it freezes on the blank screen between the boot loader and the updating escd screen, or the boot loader runs for 1 second then hangs. I had initially bumped the voltage trying to get 900 to work, and that's why it's running at 1.65 now. I used a mechanical pencil to connect the L1 bridges, so once I get something more permanent, I hope I can reach 900 or 950 mhz.

Anyways, this post is just to say that I'm impressed with AMD's new line of processors and I hope they stay around for a while :)

Well, its known that it is more difficult to get an OC to run reliably under Win2K. That's why I always boot up with it when I try to OC. As for the issues with the bootloader, it might not even be an issue with the software. From my experience with the pencil trick, it appears that the effectiveness of the pencil lead drops after a while. I haven't really done any intensive research on this topic, but thisis what I suspect. I plan on turning to a more permanent solution when time permits.
