I bought a KT7A and a 800MHz duron.
When I boot the computer it says DURON 800MHz(100*8.0)
Then it says CPU is unworkable or has been changed. please recheck CPU SOFT MENU. So I go into the bios and it is set for a 500MHz duron I change it so that it is set for a 800MHz duron.
When the computer tries to reboot the monitor never recieves a signal. To use the computer agian I have to clear the CMOS. When I do that it is agian set up for a 500MHz duron.
any help would be appriciated

Sounds like you aren't saving the changes. That happend to me and I thought I broke my CPU. After you change it to 800 press F10 and then enter. You should reboot and it should work fine.

Try saving changes, like others have said.

Also, I'd recommend resetting the CMOS and/or removing the battery from the system, and letting it sit OUT of the motherboard for at least a few hours, if not overnight. It's worth a try.

I save it before I exit, and I also reset the CMOS and left the battery out over night. This still did nothing when I restart with bios set for a 800MHz duron the monitor recives no signal and I have to clear the CMOS to get the boot up screen.

Some of the Kt7 boards had the same problem. If I remember right a bios update and/or a voltage adjustment solved the problem. AMD changed the default voltage on some chips and they refused to boot unless the L7's were closed. Try connecting all the L7 bridges with a pencil and see if that solves it.

Good luck
