DURON OVERCLOCKING: L1 bridges....short circuit????

ok just out of curiosity, i read somewhere that if you accidently connect more than one bridge together your cpu will short circuit, thus burning out. is it true? what i mean is if you, per say, connect L1 to L2 by accident (they are so close together), or if just a tiny bit of graphite gets inbetween them. so is this a real threat or just a hoax???? thx 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

From my experience this is not true. You will end up with interesting settings coming up when you change the multiplier (ie, set it to 8.5x100 and end up booting with 7.5x100), however I have never shorted one by accidently overlapping the pencil marks.

First of all, I think you mean connecting the 4 L1 bridges, not L1 and L2 bridges...tkae a look at your duron
Ebevn if you do connect the bridges, I don't think it will burn your cpu. You will see some problems when trying to overclock maybe. If you do, then just erase the pencil marks with an eraser and dra them again more carefully.

If that were true my brand new Duron would have been toast last night around midnight. I finally got the pencil thing right and now I'm running at 900MHz! 😀

CPUTester is correct.
I also don't think it will short-circuit your CPU.
I have repenciled the bridges many times because I keep experimenting with many thermal paste.
In my own test, I believe I have somehow got some of the bridges penciled together several times. The only problem I found is that some multipliers will be missing/not functional. Ex: Set at 9x100 booted as 850 because the multiplier 9 is missing.
When I repencil the bridges correctly, I got all the multipliers correctly.
