This is the whole "Bang for your buck" question. What is the highe end limit on most XP processors for overclocking, and what is the lowest "produced" XP that has a decent chance of getting there? Right now Im looking at the AMD xp 2000 and wondering if it has a shot of breaking 2k. Also wondering what the high end overclock on the durons is atm. This would probably be with straight air cooling.

I know that certain processors have inherent "walls" that they can't surpass without increased cooling, which is why the next generation of processor comes out that surpasses it. What is high end overclocking for even the most recent AMD xp's looking like right now with Air?

Thanks in advance

I have heard the people on here say the 1700b will do well over 2 gig.

1600+ AGOIA/AROIA Palomino
1700+/1800+ Thoroughbred-B's
2100+ Thoroughbred-Bs

All great OCers.

The 1600+ is old school, and the lower rated Thoroughbreds probally outclass them now.

If you have less than $100, go for the 1700+/1800+Thoroughbred-B

If you have $100, go for the 2100+ Thoroughbred-B

currently, the Athlon XP 2100+ and the Athlon XP 1700+ T-bred B's are doing well
the 2100+ are doing to around 2.3-2.45ghz
the 1700+ are hitting a brick wall at around 2 ghz but a few have got it to 2.3-2.4ghz

I just had to set a jumper on my Intel Mainboard and I had a 8% increase in speed. Not very stable system though.
