duron or T-bird for O/Cing

Hey, I was leaning towards a 750-850 T-bird to OC on the MSI turbo..IF IT EVER COMES OUT. I was wondering what kind of results people with duron 700s or 750s were getting, since Ive read about all these great results ocing 600s and 650s.

anything you have to say would be greatly apreciated. Im thinking about getting a real nice Mobo with the kt133a chipset so I can upgrade a lot in the future, but sparing price with a cheapo cpu.

If anyone has anything to say about where to buy, what speeds, if I should wait, anything please tell me.

Thanks a lot,
Sam

well...if you have a nice computer already...(600 up...) than you prolly might want to wait for prices to go down...they are kinda high right now...

I have a Durong 600@900 at 1.60 volts that runs perfectly stable. I'm gonna go for a 1.0 or 1.1 gigs as soon as I get my Taisol CGK742092. I think that if you're on a budget, definitely go with a Duron. Just FYI, the higher the "stock" core is, doesn't necessacarily mean it'll go higher. My friend has a Duron 900, and he had to go to 1.75 to get to 900.

correct me if i am wrong but there aren't any duron 900s yet. right? sammy i have 3 tbird 750s that did 1000-1050@1.85V and a duron 650 that is doing 1050@1.775V. If price is a thing get the duron. THere is almost no difference in performance between a tbird 1050 and a duron 1050.

You'll probly get more milage out of a Iwill KK266 as it will handle (with a simple BIOS update) the upcoming Palomino CPU... see overclockers article on this matter here.

The Asus AV7-133 probably can't handle the Palomino, & I think the MSI Turbo is in the same boat, but I'm not sure.

anyone else know about the compatability with the turbo and the palamino processors????

oh yeah, when i said price in an issue, i didnt mean price is that much of an issue, just i would rather pay 1/2 as much for a t-bird 900 than a 1.1gig for double the price.

thanks for all the help guys
