Duron Motherboard Suggestions

Alright here is what I'd like... I want a Duron motherboard which I can overclock with. I'd like to have built in sound or LAN, but it is not the highest priority. I would also like to have the ability to upgrade to a Thunderbird later on when I have the money. I am looking to spend about $100 or less. Suggestions?

Abit KT7-A.. may not be the best.. but it works great.. i think it runs for about 110... and IWILL board may be a great choice too..

Asus A7V-E seems pretty good.
I think it's about $80.

but it doesn't have sound or LAN... so spend another $20 buying that and you'll be set 🙂

Get an Epox 8K7A....with DDR RAM prices so cheap right now a DDR board is the best way to go.

Unless you are really short on cash, or have a ton of SDRAM you really want to use I'd go DDR (and did a couple weeks ago).

What about the Epox 8KTA3? I don't have the money to spend for DDR. Not high enough price/performance for me. If I had the money it'd be a whole different story...

I recommend the MSI K7T Turbo, its $90 something, and its one of the most stable KT133A boards. I like the layout better than the Epox, MSI's quality doesnt disappoint either.

Lxi has a point; the layout is my one big gripe, too. The power connector is right smack in the middle of the board, a long AGP video card (like my Creative labs GF2MX) will block access to two of the memory slots, and the IDE connectors (located in the lower right-hand corner) may make longer cables necessary if you put the board in a large case. Onboard sound is lousy, too. 'course, the only thing I have to compare it to is my now-deceased SB Live! 🙂

The IWILL KK266 (VIA KT133A) has by far the best sound - no need for a sound card with that one. Just another board to consider. Its about $12 more than the MSI board, but provides sound equivalent to a $30 sound card.

Yet another vote for the MSI K7T Turbo. Got mine a couple of months ago from newegg along with a Duron 850. Easy setup, rock stable, nice quality, no surprises. For around $100, tough to beat. I have built 4 systems with MSI boards, and have yet to have a problem with one.
