Hi, i never used an AMD processor, but would like to upgrade my PC to an AMD. My question is what is the difference between Duron, Athlon and ThunderBird? Is it worth to buy Duron 900MHz (cheaper than Athlon and thunderbird)?

duron is the low end AMD cpu
atlon is the high end

thunderbird is a type of athlon (the new athlons are palomino, or called athlonxp)

durons are about 10% slower then tbirds at equal speed, meaning a 900mhz athlon will be about 10% faster then a 900mhz duron

Just wondering... anyone know if the new Duron with the Morgan core would out perform the Athlon Thunderbirds? Pricing difference seems to be only a few dollars.

The T-bird is still the better choice for most things than a Morgan, unless you make use of SSE instructions frequently (and not 3dnow). More or less, the two (T-bird and morgan) are about the same in terms of performance.
