Hi, I have an ASUS KT-400 board with a Duron 1800 Applebred. I don't have the BUS lock where I can isolate the CPU from the PCI bus.

Before I added my PCI Wi-Fi card, I could do 150mhz front side bus. This raised my PCI bus though above the 33mhz default as you know.

I can't do that now due to the PCI wi-fi card. I can't ditch Wi-Fi as my computer is in a lovely spot some distance from the router (too far to wire).

I tried making a jump to 166 mhz FSB since that would leave the PCI bus at 33mhz - but it seemed to fail would not post, just returned to bios.

My Ram is 2x256 megs of Kingston Valueram pc2100. I know that it is rated for 133x2 - not 166x2 as I am trying to push it.

There are some settings in the bios regarding latency and stuff for the RAM and voltages for the ram and processor.

What would be your recommendations? Can it 'hurt things' just by attempting this?

If I can't get it to work with the PC2100 ram, what do you all think my chances would be with PC2700 ram?

I think that it's very possibly your memory holding you back. ValueRAM isn't a great OC'er and that jump is probably too far. That being said I think some PC2700 memory would really help since people can get their Applebreds to 200FSB showing that it's probably not processor based.

Good luck!
