That seems like a great deal, but I can't figure out what motherboard it comes with. Can anyone else figure it out?

I agree with PG. Looks like a great deal. Anyone know if this motherboard has built in lan or sound?

I bought this barebones at Fry's 2 weeks ago with bare 900 MHz Duron for 119. The Bayarea Fry's are selling this in store (boxed 950 Duron for 139) right now. Nice little system. It is indeed the K7VEM mobo. It's has onboard sound and video, but no built in LAN. The PS is 300 watt. Comes with Symantec software, Ghost, Norton AV and a couple others. Here's a link to the board. Soyo K7VEM
Good find, by the way. Outpost seems to be just a couple dollars higher than the B&M Fry's stores.

I acutally saw this also and sent Outpost an email inquring about it. Here is the response I got:

"Hello,

Thank you for contacting Outpost.com.

Unfortunately. We were not given a description by the manufacturer. We
will have this description most likely on monday.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions."

Pretty helpful huh??

So the system includes Duron 950, Soyo K7VEM, and a case with 300W PS? Is it an ATX case or MATX? Is a floppy included?

No floppy drive. Excuse my ignorance, but what is MATX? It seemed there was another connector from the PS, but it was smaller than the ATX connector. Is that the MATX??

M stands for Micro. A MATX case will only take MATX motherboards. An ATX case would take ATX and MATX motherboards.

my impression is that it is just the cpu and mobo. because why would it say "antec atx...." under the "also recommended" thing if it already came with a case. then again, i dont know, because it does look that might be a soyo badge on the case in the pic....

I checked the link I left a couple of posts above and the motherboard is Micro ATX. Also, to px, the AS121 barebones system is everything I decribed above,(case& motherboard. It has the same AS-121 part number. A barebones system always includes a case, otherwise it just becomes a combo.

This one at Outpost is a boxed 950 Duron. The one I bought at Fry's for 119 had a bare 900 MHz Duron.

This is an excellent deal considering the free shipping. I'm going to lock this one in because I know I will always have a use for a Socket A based system. having the mobo, case and CPU in one price is pretty sweet.

BTW, Newegg has a better case from MSI. It is called the slimline PC. It's basically the same as this Soyo combo, but the case is slim.

Hgabriel:
The barebones case you linked to has only a 145 W PS. The one barebones case at Newegg, the MSI 6215, has only a 90W PS. MSI 6215
Seems like a mistake or these things are seriously underpowered.

Damnit! Just the other day Newegg was selling a Socket A version of the slim pc for $130. It's no longer listed.

This is a sweet deal

Prices from Price watch:

SY-K7VEM+: $74 + shipping
Boxed 950 Duron: $66 + shipping

Total: $140 + shipping

So, you are getting a case and PS for $9 and free shipping. :)

I have a question then...does this mobo have an AGP slot on it, or is it that integrated crap?

I guess you could say it's "integrated crap" the KLE133 version does not include a AGP port, so if you wanted to upgrade the video you would have to go with a PCI card. It doesn't really matter to me though... I'm buying one to upgrade my LAN server. :)

The lack of the AGP slot is a bummer. But if you add a CDROM and a hard drive, you have yourself a pretty sweet linux or FreeBSD box to mess around with.

esquared: I built a machine two weeks ago based on the MS-6215 (side note: I couldn't find anywhere on the web that sells the MS-6218 to consumers - if anyone knows of a location, please let me know). I too, was worried about the seemingly paltry power supply but I tricked it out with a 1G PIII cpu, 512M RAM, 40G 7200RPM HD, floppy drive, and DVD-CDRW combo drive running WinXP. Two of the USB ports are powering a scanner and a Smartmedia Card reader and I haven't seen any signs of the power supply being taxed. The integrated video does 1280 x 1024 @ 24bit color, and the integrated sound is adequate. Cutest little box ever - got rid of the massive tower I was always kicking under my desk.
