Duron 800 - Return for T-Bird..?

I know this is a subject of debate so I'm looking for opinions I suppose. I ordered a T-Bird 800 from a certain retailer. In turn I Was mistakenly sent a Duron 800. Now my options are either to..

A) Keep the Duron 800 and be happy
B) Return it, paying shipping back and shipping of the T-Bird 800 which is an insane amount AND this is in addition to waiting for the T-Bird 800 to come in stock.
C) Return the Duron 800 and eat a nice %15 re-stocking fee and get a T-Bird somewhere else.

I'm wondering if the speed difference between the two (Duron 800 vs T-Bird) is worth the hassle of paying for these people's mistake...(Spartantech.com for any curious).

Comments? Opinions?

Uhh... If they DON'T take back the Duron800 and replace it for free they are a VERY horrible online retailer, please tell us their name.

Yeah, i agree. They made the mistake, so they should eat the cost, and imo that includes shipping.

Duron/T-bird: there is only about 10-15% performance difference between the two, in favor of the T-bird. But thats a consideration you will have to make.

Personally, id return it and let them pay for it and raise all hell if they dont want to.

In main post I stated, it was Spartantech.com. They were/are actually rated quite decent by resellerratings.com too. I argued with the manager for quite a while. My only recourse is going through a huge battle with Discover to dispute the charges, which they won't even do until I return the item and eat the 15% charge.

Just so much hassle, it's ridiculous.

as long as you can document what was ordered, and what was received, the seller should take it back w/o restocking fee. You may be out some shipping but even that might be moot.

generally, if it's their mistake and you can document it, they will fix it at their costs.

as to the difference between the duron and TB, there's little performance difference but a fairly large cost difference. If you're planning on oc'g to start with, then definetly go with the Duron and use the saved money to upgrade another portion of your system.

But no way would I retain the Duron w/o some kind of compensation from the seller; have them credit your card for the difference.

good luck

They sent you the wrong product and are hassling you about you. Talk to the manager again and tell him that you are going to:

1. Contact your credit card company and tell them what happened
2. Smear the company's name on the internet.
3. give them a horrible review on resellerratings.com

Easily solved by the above
CAll them let them know of the situations(be stern and sound pissed) but polite.
Let them know you mean buisness
Then demand they ship you the new chip and a fedex sticker return the duron ...problem solved

Did they charge you for a Duron or T-Bird.... if they charged you originally for a T-Bird they better damned well send you the T-Bird. If they charged you for a Duron they probably think you made the mistake while ordering.... Did you get a email receipt? If it says T-Bird yell at them and threaten to take them to small claims court.

I agree. sometimes you will have to pay return shipping for the exchange (I did last time it happened to me), but shipping from them->you is certainly their cost, not yours, and if they won't do the exchange, they damn well better credit you with the $$ difference between a duron and an athlon.

Give them a bad rating, and say what they did, on resellerratings.com, if they continue to be dicks.

And was it a case of thinking you ordered a tbird, or wanting to order a tbird but ordering a duron by mistake or actually placing a order for a tbird and getting a duron?

If it was their fault and they don't give you the difference or pay shipping to recieve the T-bird then I suggest you take on multiple different identities on resellers.com and give them enough bad ratings to bring their ratings down to the ground.

But before ask to talk to the managers supervisor, and be very very pissed when talking to them. You have to DEMAND what you want and don't hang up until you get what you want. If they still don't budge then start sending bomb treats, viruses to their email, and any other havoc you can think of.

I have never heard of a company who sucked this bad.
