Duron 750

i have a duron 750 and i'm trying to get it to at least 900 or more, i think i maybe able to get it up to 1000, that would make me really happy🙂 . I have a chrome orb and the msi k7tpro2a MB. Can anyone help me with voltage settings and FSB settings.

Right now i have it at 850.

thanks in advance

You probably won't be able to get it any higher than 950 MHz. It depends on the week it was made. Check the core for the week number. Here's a page that might help you out:

New AMD Duron Overclocking Guide

You may need more voltage to get it to 900 MHz-950 Mhz. I run my Duron 600 MHz at 850 MHz using 1.825 volts. It's very stable at this voltage, but does run a little hot: 48 C-50 C. I wouldn't bother much with FSB settings unless you have good RAM.

Also try connecting the L7 bridges for a default vcore of 1.85 You might need that extra kick to get your cpu going.

would it also help if i applied some heatsink compound i got from radio shack?
also when i tried the cpu at 900Mhz in windows 2000 i got a registry error when it tried to load win2000? could any one offer me any suggestions???

Only if your heat sink didn't have a thermal pad on the bottom of it. Use a thin layer of thermal compound. If you can't get into Win2K without getting a BSOD or registry errors, you'll have to resort to using the FSB to increase the clock frequency. There are voltage mods you can do on certain motherbords, but I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you really know what you are doing, and are willing to take a risk on frying your Duron.
