Duron 700 woes...

Ok... a classical Duron 700, all L1 bridges cut. Connected them with a soft lead pencil, oc to 850 was fine, rock stable with 1.75C, temp always ~45C.
But when I try to go over 900MHz, nothing. It won't even show me a picture. 900,950,1000MHz... nothing. Just silent.
Cooling should be sufficent, as I have a Alpha PAL6035+Delta fan+Arctic Silver... so the very best :)

Help :)

I'm assuming that you have upped the volatage, but if you haven't, try it.

As for other suggestions, try turning off Jumperfree mode and set the voltage to 1.85 using the jumpers. Then try the OC again. Hopefully this will solve your problems. You may also want to try repenciling in the bridges or use something better than a pencil.

The default core voltage was 1.6V. Upped it all the way to 1.85V, but no help... it won't even bring up a picture, and *that* I find odd. Rock stable at 850, so at 900 it _should_ at least show me a picture?

Check that you connected the bridges properly. Hold it against
a light and if you see the the pencil marks reflecting the light
they should be ok.

You can check if your Cpu is able to do 900 by running the multiplier
@ 8.5 and then up the bus speed to 107Mhz and see if it boots.

Actually, FSB of 106MHz will do the job (900.4MHz), but this is not guaranteed to work either since the VIA KT133 is notorious for being bad at FSB OCing.

Have you tried jumper mode yet?

Also, when you say that the comp is completely silent at the other setting, do the fans turn on? I take it you are not getting any error beeps from the mobo.

All the fans turn on, yes, but there is no video signal nor sound from the system speaker.

Will try to adjust the voltage by jumpers tonight. Otherwise, I have always adjusted the multiplier with DIP switches, I'm not a big fan of this "jumperless" thingy.

I have redone the pencil marks two times already, last time checked with a magnifying glass and it looked OK to me - all the bridges were coated with graphite...

And actually, nirvana is at 1GHz, so 900MHz isn't enough ;)
