Duron 700 vs Thunderbird 700

hi...

Now that the T Birds have dropped so cheap is it worth to go for a T Bird 700 over a duron 700 ???

Will both chips happily overclock to 900 or so ?? (i have a FOP 38)

and what sort of performance gap am i looking at with a Duron 900 vs a Tbird 900 ??

I'm not very good at remembering information like that, but it was somewhere between 10-15% (I think).

I, personally, would go with the T-Bird, I have a 900 and that runs well.

Same as AMB, my 900 Mhz. t-bird works like a charm.

From what I've read, the Duron is more easily overclocked than the t-bird. But, as I have no personal experience overclocking Durons, I can't verify the above claim.

if you have no shortage of bucks, go with the t-bird. But for the cost difference versus performance difference the duron is a better buy, especially if you're planning on oc'g. Like AMB said, the base difference in performance for the majority of applications is only 10-15%. Spend the saved money on additional fans, save it for a v-card upgrade, a better mouse/joystick, a hd cooler, ect.
