I sure would like to overclock a new Duron to 1GHz.

Question is, would I have a better chance with a Duron 800 MHz or a Duron 700 MHz (as they have the same core)?
I just purchased a new Iwill KK266 mobo and some CAS2 PC133 memory.
The 700 MHz is about $42 while the 800 MHz is around $60....yea I know, $18 is no big deal but it still is money....

Thanks!

i think the duron 800 hits 1 gig more frequently than the 700 does. I had a 700 that did 950 at 1.75V but no amount of voltage would even get it to boot at 1000. The best overclockers are still the 600 and 650s.

Agree with livstevo, go with the 800 cuz 700's don't have a real good record for overclocking. And for percent gain the 600's and the 650's do have the best. But if you want a gig then start with the 800 or 850, most of them should reach a gig with decent cooling.

Hmmmm....the 600's and 650's (provided you can find them) can generally overclock to what - 900+ MHz?

So the percent gain on these cpu's would be 30+ while the 700-800's would be only 20+. I could probably push a 700 to 931 MHz.

Thanks!

i've heard somewhere that the duron 700 and 750's doesn't hit 1ghz that frequently.. even the 600 and 650's hit 1ghz more than the 700's... i'd personally suggest 800... and if your on a tight budget, get a 600
