Ok well i've just starting overclocking, and i've started on something light, 800Mhz with 1.65V. Its rock solid stable. Heres the results for 650, 800 and 900:

650

Q3demo1 640x480: 109.9
Q3demo1 1024x768: 61.3
3dMark2000: 4671
SiSoft Sandra CPU: 1874MIPS, 914MFLOPS

800

Q3demo1 640x480: 118.0
Q3demo1 1024x768: 61.4
3dMark2000: 4805
SiSoft Sandra CPU: 2304MIPS, 1126MFLOPS

900

Q3demo1 640x480: 123.1
Q3demo1 1024x768: 61.4
3dMark2000: 4868
SiSoft Sandra CPU: 2592MIPS, 1267MFLOPS

As you can see, at 1024x768 32bit in Q3A, the GeForce DDR is starting to max out, its limiting the whole system
But 3dmark2000 and SiSoft Sandra show good increases.

Next target: 950 i guess, but i'll just keep it at 900 for a bit
;)

Whoops, heres the system as requested below:

Duron 650@900
Asus A7V (Multiplier dipswitch onboard)
256MB PC133 CAS2 (Crucial)
CL GeForce DDR 32MB
Win98SE

Thanks for the benchmarks..But can you put the info on the system in there as well?

Signature updated ;)

Yeah the Asus had the set of Dipswitches onboard.

btw I tried installing the system with WinME and i got bad results, i then switched to Win98SE and the performance was boosted big time. So i advise avoiding WinME

Sucks how it did't touch the 1024x768. Even a GFDDR you would think would imrove it.

Ya, it looks like a videocard bottleneck. Over all I like what I see. I hope more people post success stories about OCing Duron.

I'd keep it at 850-ish for the sake of your CPU. You won't get any difference in Q3 or many other games for that sake, and 50-100 MHz won't make much of a difference in the normal usage of your computer.

I'm running at 800 1.65V atm. This is a 150Mhz Overclock, and the voltage is still very low, and temp of cpu is 34C atm.

I'm only overclocking it for fun, just to see how high it will go. Believe me, once i've done exploring, i'll be running at 800 all the time.

Another update, this morning i got it to 945 (9x105), Windows ran fine, and i got this SiSoft Sandra result:

SiSoft Sandra CPU: 2698MIPS, 1318MFLOPS

But my PC crashed during the Q3 test.
I think it was most likely due to me running the Duron@945 with 1.84V on a 230W PSU ;)
My 300W Case is arriving Monday so i'll see what happens then.

Hej wich cooler do you use raider?.
I can run my duron600 at 750(1.65) but i put it back to 600. I am going to wait for better bios because each time i turn of my pc and turn it back on the monitor goes to suspend mode i must press rest then it enters the bios and says improper system shutdown blabla after that i can't crank up the voltage to 1.65 at once it must be done at steps first 1.55 then reset enter the bios crank up to 1.6 and the reset enter the bios 1.65 it annoying. I gues this is a bios issue. I flashed my bios to revision 3 and supersingly the voltage was 7C higher 600mhz running at 40C now (with default bios it was 33C)

I'm using an Alpha FC-PAL35U, although the 4 white feet on the bottom of the heatsink HAVE to be removed otherwise the core doesn't make contact with the heatsink.

Unfortunatly my Alpha came with no fan (it should be with me Tuesday now), so i'm using an old 40mm Socket7 fan. And i'm still getting temps of around 35C consistently at 800Mhz.

For the higher clocks (850 and higher) i use a desk fan to blow over the motherboard, just to be sure.

Raider, how did you manage to overclock the Duron? I was under the impression that it was completely clock locked(even with the A7V). Am I wrong or did you just get an unlocked Duron?
