I got my 1.5v unlocked D650 and KT7 yesterday. It came with stock HS/F. When I first mounted the HS the temp probe was sticking up too high, or so I thought. I pushed it down enought so the CPU would drop in easily. Someone told me not to do that so like an idjit I popped off the stock HS to get at the chip. Well, the thermal pad was smashed all over the cpu.
Anyway, I pulled the probe back up and put everything back together. The dang temp skyrocketed from 44C or so to 57C @ 800 1.7. That lame pad was all mucked up so I had to take it off and try adding some cheap goo a factory worker I know once gave me. It's made by Wakefield and is an industrial thermal compound. Looks like toothpaste. I cleaned up the HS and applied an everso thin layer on the die. Now my temp is hovering around 52-53C at 850 1.75v.
I don't know how safe this is. The specs say 90 but who knows.
Damnit. I am just so pissed that I took off that pad. I could live with 44C more than 53C. My FOP32-1 comes Monday. I hope I have better luck with that. I am not sure if I should continue using that goo I have or get something else.
Damn all this. hehe
