I just got a Duron 600 with one of those blue cores. Aperently it does 1000. I'm waiting for my abit kt7 to come in. I preordered and alpha pal 6035 (they are all out of stock). Is the alpha a good choice?

Also how well will this new rig preforme against my celeron 566 @ 850mhz?

Wow.. Duron 600 w/ blue core; I didn't think they made many blue core Durons. That should be a gem for sure ;)

Look at the Tai Sol HS/F. Anand had it in his Socket-A review.

Duron core color means nothing. ALL Durons are fabed in Austin TX from aluminum. Dresden uses copper but they only do Birds. The color comes from the die polishing process and has nothing to do with the fab. Colors are showing up as purple and red as well as the original blue and green. Course it still could do the gig dance. As to the Alpha, i'd say that the FOP-38, if you can stand the noise, or the new TAISOL CGK742092, forged baby. Nerdsbyte.com will have 'em and you can pick your own fan. The same bad Delta Jet Engine can be had on the Taisol for a total of $25. $17.99 with the smaller, quiter delta fan. Good value.

Well, I preordered an alpha. Hopefully it won't take to long to come in.
Here are the markings on the CPU:
AMD Duron
D600AUT1B
AKBA 0037APAW
92397370617
1999 AMD

The briges are already connected. Well 4 of the L1's are and on of the L7.
