Hey fellas.
I have a problem here.

Duron 600 AKBA stepping.
A7V133
256 MB RAM PC133
SB Live! value
Maxtor 60 GB HDD
Pioneer DVD

I just purchased a Thermalright SK6 heatsink w/delta 38 cfm fan, ASII and a shim. All from bigfootcomputers.com.
Previous to this I had a generic Heatsink/fan combo with radioshack brand thermal paste.
I proceeded to install the Heatsink/fan as per ASII's instructions and Thermalright's instructions.
Boot up was fine, go into BIOS and check cpu temperature. 31 C. After it warms up a little, it reaches 36 C. At this point I was thinkin' "This can't be installed properly, because everywhere I've looked people were getting much lower temps than that on a stock cpu".

I said "Ok, we'll try overclocking it".

So I try as I had it before with my crappy generic heatsink + radioshack thermal paste combo (6.0 * 133 = 800, no voltage adjustment required).
I switch it, and it doesn't post!.
So I try multiplier adjustments. 8.5 *100 = 850. That seemed to work fine. But then I tried to adjust the voltage a little (which I could do before I added this heatsink/fan combo) and it still doesn't post!

At this point, i'm discouraged. I've decided to redo the installation and sand the heatsink even more this time (I went 320, 600 and 1000 grit last time).

The heatsink seemed to hit the core smack dab in the little, like its supposed to.

bottom line 36 C at 600 (wtf..)
Can't overclock past 805, and can't change fsb past 120, otherwise the system doesn't POST.

Any suggestions?

try posting at 133 fsb... if that works, one of your cards doesn't like your high PCI bus at 120

Yes, but see I hadn't changed any cards when I installed the new heatsink.
The whole system ran fine at 133 with the other setup.

Could you have possbily damaged the chip...? The clip on a SK-6 is pretty tight...? Also to increase the voltage use the jumpers for that... My A7V133 also does not like for you to change the voltage from the bios...? If I jumper it no problem with booting...? One other thing the SK-6 really likes a good supply of cool air (flow through the case) it tends to send out a lot of heat... gotta get it out of the case... :)

I'm pretty damn sure I've got the clip on properly.
The longer end of the clip is pointing towards the "Socket 462" saying on the socket, and it seems to line up perfectly with the core.

I just re-installed it after sanding it some more.

Seems to be OK now, but 40 C (full load) at 880 MHz 1.70 vcore.

People seem to be getting much better results than this, but I'll keep trying to raise the frequency as far as I can.
