Which is a better overclocker? The 600 Mhz or the 700 Mhz.
I know the Duron 600 can hit 950 without any problem and at 1ghz win98 will not boot. How about the 700 Mhz?Can it hit 1 ghz comfortably?I am planning to use the ASUS mobo and for cooling the Alpha PAL6035.Can anybody recommend a quiter and good fan for this apart from the nosiy Delta which is capable of taking it to the 1 Ghz mark at a comfortable temperature?

Thanks in advance

Do not believe everything you read. I have two week 29 durons that will not do anything over 850 stabil. They boot into windows at 890 but weird things happen. I have all the good stuff too. An abit kt7, mushkin pc 133 222 ram, alpha hsf, antec approved 300 watt power supply..... Some 600 processors will do one gig and some will only do 800. Go to www.overclockers.com and look at the database. It is luck of the draw. I really think the 600 and the 700 are the same.

harshac - go to fry's, buy a few on a credit card, pick the best, return the rest.

it doesn't have an online store. you have to go in person. check today's paper. there should be an ad.

gplracer is right...there is no guarantee. that being said, the 600/700 are about the same. id bet on the 700 if you dont mind another 30-40$ in price, and *MAYBE* get a little more stability out of it (later week/refined process); if you cant afford McD's after buying a 700, maybe the 600 is a better choice. but its still a roll of the dice.

I snarked a 700, hoping to get a generally later-week chip than a 600.
