I've recently gotten my newest system up and running with a Duron 600. I'm looking to overclock as much as possible, and was wondering what the recommended maximum voltage setting is for my Duron is, as far as overclocking goes. I've currently got it running at 800 MHz on 1.55 volts and 35 degrees C with Prime95 running full time (room is 29 degrees C). I can't run 900 stable at 1.7 volts. How high should can I take this before getting into an area where most overclockers would get nervous?

Also, my BIOS lists the default voltage on the CPU as 1.5 volts, which is why I'm concerned about bumping higher than 1.7. From some of the other posts here, I get the impression that the Duron should run default higher than 1.5 volts. What's up here? Am I overclocking on reduced voltage (woohoo!), or is that default correct.

My 600 runs at 850 at 1.825v. If I try 900 at 1.85v (highest setting), I get a registry error once it gets in Windows. I've tried everything short of a new HSF, but no go. You can run it at max voltage as long as you have good cooling. My chip stays around 49 C at idle, and a few more degrees at full load. I would just keep pushing it until you can't push it any more. If you have a later week Duron 600, that baby might just make it to 1 GHz. Go for it! ;)

RagManX - My Duron 600 runs at 1GHz with the voltage at 1.8 volts(just lucky I guess). I may be able to push 1050 @ 1.85v but I haven't tried it yet. What HSF do you use? As long as it isn't a piece of crap HSF, you should be able to bump the voltage to 1.85v without any damage.

Earlier Durons had default voltage of 1.5V. Later durons have 1.6 V
