Duron 600 / A7V Overclocking woes...

I decided to go the defogger kit route instead of graphite just to be on the safe side, and I'm still having probs. No matter what combination of voltages I use, I can't get past 650. 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, and 9 don't work. Everytime I try to post with these, I get a blank screen and the constant repetition of long beeps. I've even tried upping the I/O voltage to no avail. Temps are pretty good with my FOP38, 38-40c...

Anyone have any suggestions? I wanna get this b!tch to 900.

I have the exact same setup.

Sounds like you need to get up and running at the default 600 first.
Make sure all the cards are seated correctly (especially your video card).
Hopefully you didn't connect any of the L1 bridges together when you did the defogger trick (btw, the pencil job works fine for me).
Also load the bios defaults for now.. and just see if you can get the thing running at 600.

I've read over all the OC'ing articles for my setup before, so I pretty mucn know the routine (all the stuff you've said). I've tried graphite also and got the same results..video card seated fine, l1 connected correctly...still can't get past 650..

BTW, I'm posting from the same box, so default 600 is working just fine...

Same problem here ... Duron 600 on a Abit KT7. Everything with mult. > 6.5 makes my screen block in standby-mode at startup. So 6.5 x 110 is OK but 7 x 100 impossible. Doesn't it have anything to do with the graphic card ? Temperature is OK. Thanks for any hints or suggestions !

My system:
Duron 600
Abit KT7
128 Mb PC100
GeForce256 SDR
VCORE 1,7
Power supply 235W

Decided to screw using the defogger kit. Whipped out the pencil and tried it again. Three pencilings later it worked...currently running at 1ghz 🙂

Cool, that pencil trick worked great on my thunderbird. Altho my pointer finger has been numb for about 8 hours now after trying to put the fop38 back on. Anyone know how long till i can feel my finger again? lol

For anyone that didn't catch it (still a load of replies), my Duron is fine and is currently running at a gig...

LOL numb finger! Next time carefully us a pair of needle nose pliers. If you have a pair with a curved tip that'll work even better.
