Duron 1.8ghz only shows as 1350 Mhz. Help?

I have a Duron 1.8 Ghz in an ECS K7VTA3 motherboard. The problem is that at boot up, it is only showing as running at 1350 Mhz. I know there is an easy setting I'm missing somwhere, but I'm not sure where. Any help please?

Your bus speed is probably set at 100 (200 FSB) MHz instead of 133 (266 FSB) MHz. Try changing this setting in the system bios. If you don't see an option to change it in the bios, consult your motherboard manual to see which jumpers you need to configure on your board.

Agreed ... my son's ECS K7S5A used to periodically "forget" the correct FSB speed for his TBred 1800+. Just change it back in the BIOS to 133 and it will recognize the chip at the right speed again.

cmos battery low - common problem in the k7s5a

I had the same board, not very tweakable. I had to "remind" the cmos that I had an Athlon XP 1800+ (1550 Mhz) and PC133 ram. It would occasionally boot up as an 1150 Mhz w/100 FSB. I agree the CMOS battery is probably not holding up too well. I didn't try to replace the battery I just got an MSI board and new processor as soon as I could!

I had exactly the same problem with a Albatron KM400 Pro board.

Turns out the way to correct it is by configuring the CPU clock select jumper (JP5 and JP6 on my one) on the motherboard.

Consult your motherboard manual on which "short" setup to use.

By setting the "short" to 133MHz setting my CPU was immediately recognised as a 1800
