ok so i'm getting my server up and running and i got a HSF that was advertised as 24db 21cfm, ut it sounds alot louder than that. my heatsink is rather large and it has a copper base and the duron from what i've seen runs pretty cool like 34deg. is there anyone on this forum that is running an applebred without a fan

also i have decent airflow through my case, 280m fan pushing out and 2 pushing in in front of my HDs (and there are 10 hds in the case, 6 are actively cooled cause they are scsi)

the reason i'm using a duron is because it was $39 shipped off of newegg and you really can't beat that

oh yeah and the duron runs at 1.5V

nope, sorry to say. Your best bet of that would be getting a mobile barton, underclockin it to 500mhz or lower and getting the lowest voltage as possible. I dont know if even that would run fanless.

you would need to underclock and undervolt. Still may not even if you do that.

*#@%&*!, why didn't I think of that? Link to how you can do it for $7.99, including shipping. Hey, my other link was funnier, though.:D Good luck, Danny, I hope that will work for you. It would almost have to, if you underclock and/or undervolt it.

Oops, I just noticed what I said in my last post. What I meant was that if you buy the Fanmate 1, then you probably wouldn't have to undervolt or underclock. And if you do have to underclock, it won't be much at all, since you'll still have a fan spinning on your heatsink.
