Hi :) ,

I fix up my new duron 1.3GHz & GA-7VTX, then power up but nothing came out...black screen.

Checked http://tw.giga-byte.com/support/viakt266_old.htm#link7vtx

I think my mobo need to be flash to be able to support Duron 1.3 GHz but since there is no display at all, how can i flash bios ?

I really need a lower speed CPU to flash bios ? I only have Duron 1.3Ghz with me. Any other alternative ?
Tried change the jumper switch to Duron 1.2Ghz but still nothing.
Should I unlock the CPU so that it could recognise 1.2GHz then update bios so that it recognise 1.3GHz after bios update ?

Pls help. Thanks.

Most likely

Doesn't hurt to try it. You would think your KT266 board even with an early BIOS would already have Morgan support though.

diehardware,

Thanks for the advice.

I tried unlock using pencil trace method, then change multiplier to 12X & 100Hz but still the same.

how big is your psu?

durons take a bit more power than athlons from what i've seen (most of the systems i've built usually use 1.78V as default) to acheive their clock speed (kinda strange isn't it)

this is one of the biggest problems with the k7s5a boards, they require alot more power, it might be the same with yours

My psu is those 400W which come together with my Hi-Cute ATX casing which support P4...

Oppss...I sent my pc back to the shop where I bought the mobo...guess what happen...
First, he tried fixing a 1.2GHz Duron on it but still does not work even the mobo does support it...(I don't know why but the last time I test it with a friend 1.2 GHz, it works ??!!.)
Then, the technician tried to test it outside the case...Arrr...smoke coming out from the AGP card...the AGP slot and AGP card was burned ...they will send it back for warranty claim...

I'm wondering what when wrong....??!!

the cpu could have been dead, i had a xp1700 with an 8k7ha+ and the cpu was dead but the computer would boot, but i'd get no video signal at all and the led on the MB would say FF meaning everything was fine, kinda weird huh?
