Setup cannot create files on your startup drive for Win ME

If you have HPFS or Win NT file system you need to create an MS-DOS boot partition.

It also says some other stuff, that is not relevant to my setup.

I have my drive partitioned with Partition Magic 6.0 in this config

C: Primary 512MB for swap file and system files
d: extended logical 30gig for Wun 2K
e: logical 5gig for Win ME
f: logical 5 gig for downloads
g: logical 17gig for extra stuff.

How do i fix this?

if i remember correctly, win98 needed first partition to be fat16 or fat32, so if the first swap partiton isn't fat then i think this is it

yup - C: needs to be fat. Or said better, your first partition needs to be fat.

Well I frst made it Fat 16 since I heard it was faster, that gave me the error, so next i tried with FAT 32 and still got the error

I just read that this can be caused form using third party partitioning software. I used Partition magic 6.0, so that is probably the cause. It says in order to fix it i need to install from and MS DOS prompt by holding down CTRL when I boot. But when i do that I get a message saying press any key to reboot

So what are my options

I just partitioned the drive using fdisk, but now I get an error saying that Win ME needs the C: drive to have at least 15728640 bytes. If my math is correct thats almost 15 gig, why would it need to be that big? i don't want ME to go on the C: drive anyway.
