During an interview how do I ask what usual working hours are like?

What is the proper way to ask what expected working hours are like? I'm a 40-45, maybe 50 hour a week person. I'm not lazy, just not addicted to work. I know for a fact I would not be happy at a 50+ hour/week job, and if a company expected me to do that it would probably not turn out well in the end. So how do I smoothly ask this? I'm thinking about something like "What is your company's culture in regards to a work/life balance", but even that sounds a little like I don't want to work.

Any company that states, "There's always the opportunity for overtime." should not be in your thoughts. Life is short when you think about it... live a little.

I work salary at a place, and when it's time to go home, my supervisor peeks around the corner and tells me to get outta there. It doesn't matter how much work we have left, if we're behind or not, "family and your life" is the most important thing to my company. Good thing I work for a small family owned company, I guess.

How about "How many hours a week is the typical work week?"

Hmm I suppose I could just use that. To me it seems a bit like I don't want to work very much, but then again it could be the other way around where I want OT and I want to make sure they'll give it.

Ask what the core hours are and their policy on flex.
