So I need AA batteries and the no name/store brands are not cutting it.

Any recommendation for AA batteries for digital camera? I refer personal experience.

I have some rechargeable AA batteries already, just need some alkaline for backup.

TIA.

I don't think either one is BETTER than the other, but I generally buy Duracell.

for backup AA's just get some of the super Lithium ones, unless you're going to use them often, in which case, it depends: Energizer's casing is thicker and safer. As a result you can safely recharge energizers using a slow charge/trickle charge NiCD charger, about 15 times; beyond that it's unsafe.

Duracell tends to last longer from the getgo, but it is not save to recharge them.

neither.
digital cameras are high drain...alkaline turn into energy losing heat monsters in that kinda device making for piss poor lifespan. lithiums are the good backup, but not cheap. and also work in extreme temps.
for normal backup i guess just have whatever cheap alks around, doesn't really matter since its just a poor solution any way you look at it. i think consumer reports tests didn't find the name brand batteries much better if at all these days.
its best just to have a second set of nimh rechargables..esp the hybrid/lowdischarge/enloop types these days. i use those + a 15minute duracell charger and it makes it convenient to charge even at the last moment. and i don't have to worry about self discharge. convenience ftw

For a digital camera you might want to grab a set of Ever-Ready Titanium (Lithium) batteries despite their high price ... for camera use only I've found thay last a long time.

For anything else get whatever name-brand Alkaline you can buy the cheapest.

Eneloop NiMH low self-discharge AA's
Maha 401-FS charger

All you'll ever need.

Eneloops won't go dead in storage like old-style NiMH's.

We just have piles of NiMH AAs, but for backup, the lithium ones make sense to me...

same here

Costco brand, Kirkland, is made by Duracell.

But for a digital camera i would get rechargables. High power ones to charge and use right away and some Rayovac Hybrids/Eneloops for ready to use anytime.

I switched to energizer, duracell leaks for some reason.. even though they say it wont leak. i had 2 led light, 1 with duracell and 1 with rayovac battery. The duracell leaked after a few weeks, the rayovac was good for 2 years..

Actually I've had the best luck with Panasonic brand Alkalines if you can find them.
